December 2018 Update

I want to personally thank the TARC/BRARS Officers, Board of Directors, and all our members for an enjoyable and productive 2018. It’s been a pleasure serving as president, and I look forward to another good year in 2019!

It may not have seemed like it, but we had a fairly busy year.  We managed to downsize the equipment inventory, receive a donation for a 7KW portable generator, update the club website with new software, we gained five new club members, lost two beloved silent keys, began VE testing through ARRL-VEC as well as with W5YI-VEC, built an APRS station at the Theriot repeater site to monitor voltage and temperature, raise $235 at GiveNOLA Day, and enjoyed a successful Field Day at the Houma Regional Military Museum.

At the Christmas Party, the 2018 Ham of the Year Award winner was announced. This year’s recipient is Jimmy Theriot, KG5JIM. He was voted this honor by the club members at the November meeting as one who fervently participated in and promoted amateur radio. Congrats Jim!!

Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a most prosperous and healthy New Year from me and my family,
